What it costs
The premium is the price. Nothing added.
You pay a percentage of the bond amount, called the premium. It is the bondsman's fee and is not returned when the case ends, but it is a fraction of the full cash bond the court would otherwise require. Champion splits it into a down payment and installments for families who qualify.

Once the bond is posted at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center, release usually takes two to six hours depending on how busy booking is. Nights and weekends can run longer. We post as soon as your paperwork is complete, which is often within an hour of your first call.
No. Most clients sign electronically. If you prefer to meet, our office is at 6047 Tyvola Glen Circle, Suite 214B, Charlotte, NC 28217, a short drive from the jail.
A valid photo ID, proof of address, and a way to pay the premium or down payment. Some larger bonds need collateral. We will tell you before you commit.
Up to 15 percent of the bond amount, the legal maximum in North Carolina. On a $5,000 bond that is at most $750. Champion offers down payments and installment plans on the premium for families who qualify.
Yes. We post in Cabarrus, Union, Gaston, Iredell, Rowan, Catawba, Cleveland and Lincoln counties and arrange transfer bonds elsewhere in North Carolina and in South Carolina.
No. The premium is the fee for the bond. If the court required full cash bail instead, that money would be returned at the end of the case, but most families cannot tie up that amount.
